After Lazarevac and Belgrade, the exhibition titled “The Great Belgrade Earthquake of March 24, 1922 – A Look Back at the Past and Preparation for the Future”, prepared by members of SAEE, was also held at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, University of Niš, from May 30 to June 17, 2022. The exhibition was officially opened on May 30, 2022, with welcome addresses by Dean Prof. Dr Slaviša Trajković and SUZI President Prof. Dr Svetlana Nikolić-Brzev.
The aim of the exhibition was to mark the centenary of the earthquake that occurred near Lazarevac on March 24, 1922, with a magnitude of 6.0 on the Richter scale. This earthquake was widely referred to in the media at the time as “The Great Belgrade Earthquake” and is considered the strongest earthquake to have struck Serbia in the 20th century.
