At the 18th European Conference on Earthquake Engineering (ECEE 2026), to be held from 14 to 18 September 2026 in Berlin, a Special Session entitled "Seismic Exposure of the West Balkans Built Environment” will be organized.

The session is organized by members of the SAEE Board of Directors - Prof. Božidar Stojadinović, PhD; Prof. Svetlana Brzev, PhD; and Assoc. Prof. Marko Marinković, PhD - and will provide an opportunity to discuss the status of seismic exposure of the countries within the West Balkans.

The session will focus on the contributions addressing:

• typologies of structures
• typical earthquake damage observed in recent earthquakes
• seismic vulnerability models for buildings and bridges
• experience related to the recovery actions, time and costs

We invite members of SAEE and the wider professional community to participate in this Special Session and contribute with their research in the above-mentioned areas.
