During the recently held fourth regular Assembly of the Association, two honorary members of SAEE were elected: Prof. Dr Đorđe Lađinović, Civil Eng., from the Department of Civil Engineering and Geodesy at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad, and Prof. Dr Zoran Milutinović from the Institute for Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology (IZIIS) in Skopje, North Macedonia. The candidates were nominated by the SAEE Board, and according to the statute of the Association, honorary members are elected for their exceptional contribution to earthquake engineering. Both candidates were supported by a positive vote from all Assembly members.

Prof. Dr Đorđe Lađinović has significantly contributed to the development of earthquake engineering in the Republic of Serbia over the past 40 years through the education of numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students, original professional achievements, and participation in significant national projects, such as the reconstruction of the Freedom Bridge and other bridges in Novi Sad, the Ada Bridge in Belgrade, as well as over 70 other projects. Prof. Lađinović is one of the first researchers in Serbia to focus on multi-criteria analysis of the seismic resistance of reinforced concrete buildings, which was the topic of his doctoral dissertation for which he received the Charter of the Yugoslav Society of Structural Engineers for the best achievement in the field of science in 2002.

Prof. Dr Zoran Milutinović has spent the past 45 years conducting scientific research and education in the field of earthquake engineering, significantly contributing to the development of this field in the former Yugoslavia and later in North Macedonia. Throughout his rich career, he has worked on many significant scientific topics and was one of the first researchers in the region to focus on seismic hazard and risk assessment. He participated in several important international projects, such as Prohitech, EU RISK, etc. Due to his top-tier professional expertise, he was engaged as a consultant-expert by international organizations such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), UNCHS-Habitat, and worked on a multi-year project in the United Arab Emirates as a consultant for the City of Abu Dhabi (2008-2013). Prof. Milutinović was also a visiting professor at Kobe and Kyoto universities in Japan, where he defended his doctoral dissertation in 1986.
