SAEE Leadership
A new Vice President of the Association has been elected: Prof. Dr Ratko Salatić, Civil Engineer, from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Belgrade. Since SAEE’s founding, he has served as Secretary General. The previous Vice President was Vanja Alendar, Civil Engineer, Technical Director and Partner at DNEC d.o.o., Belgrade, who, as one of SAEE’s founders, significantly contributed to developing the Association’s vision and activities during a critical period — for which we are deeply grateful.
General Secretary of the Association Vida Samardžić has been elected as the new General Secretary of the Association, taking over the role from Prof. Dr. Ratko Salatić. Vida Samardžić holds an MA degree and the title of Cultural and Arts Manager. Her twenty-year career includes work in media, startups, hospitality, and nonprofit associations, where she was responsible for organizing workflows and coordinating various programs. For the past 10 years, she lived in the United States, where her most recent position was as Publications and Membership Coordinator at the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI). Although she does not have an engineering background herself, she has recognized the importance of such research and the need to support engineers in the development of laws, regulations, and other public documents. She returned to Serbia at the end of 2020 and is currently employed at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce as Secretary of the Association of Creative Industries. Following recent earthquakes in the region, she expressed a desire to support SUZI’s mission through volunteer work, offering her extensive experience both in Serbia and across the region.
