Organized by the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade, and SUZI, a three-day seminar was held on December 6, 8, and 10, 2018, at the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade. The seminar was led by Prof. Andrew Charleson, Associate Professor at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, and titled “Conceptual Seismic Design of Buildings for Architects.”
The seminar focused on key principles of seismic design relevant to the conceptual phase of architectural design for earthquake-resistant buildings. It addressed common challenges related to horizontal and vertical configuration of structures and offered practical solutions. Prof. Charleson also presented Resist, a free software tool he developed, which helps determine the size and placement of structural elements that resist lateral forces caused by wind and earthquakes.
