Over 50 SAEE members and other interested participants attended the opening lectures of the international workshop “Seismic Risk, Recovery and Resilience” held on June 16 and 17 at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade. The workshop was organized by SUZI, the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Belgrade, and the EFEHR (European Facilities for Earthquake Hazard and Risk) consortium. The event was financially supported by the company Whitby Wood Popović doo from Belgrade.
The workshop was attended by 25 invited experts in the field of earthquake engineering from 8 countries, including Serbia. The goal of the workshop was to present the results of the latest research in the field of seismic risk assessment, starting from regional models for seismic hazard and exposure, which served as the basis for the development of the model for seismic risk in Europe. In addition, approaches for assessing and improving the resilience of buildings and infrastructure were presented, aiming to enhance the community's preparedness for recovery after earthquakes and other natural disasters. The implementation of these advanced studies is expected to contribute to the reduction of human and material losses following seismic events.
